WordPress: Blogging Made Easy

Blogging is a fact of life if you want your business to be successful online, but getting started blogging can be just plain hard. When you use WordPress all the hard stuff is taken care of for you, and all you have to do is come up with stuff to write about! If you’re tired of struggling with complicated website software, hiring programmers and designers to constantly update your design and site, you need a WordPress website design. The best thing about WordPress is that it’s FREE; you won’t have to spend a dime on upgrades (but once in awhile you may have to update your design to work with new features).

What is WordPress?

If you’ve never used WordPress before, you are missing out! This CMS (content management system) allows you to publish your content fast and easy, and it has all the SEO tools you could ever need to leapfrog ahead of your competition. It’s built around the idea of “push button publishing”, meaning you shouldn’t have to do anything more than press a button to edit or publish your content. So if you’re tired of trying to get a blog that works, you need WordPress!

What You Need for WordPress

You’ll need a few things for a WordPress blog before you start setting it up. You’ll need hosting and a domain, and you can get these through HostGator, 1and1 and a whole host of other different web hosts. You can check around and find coupons (especially for GoDaddy and HostGator in particular) to bump down the price of your hosting and domain. Whatever host you go with, make sure it comes with databases and supports PHP5 (PHP 4 at the least).

Getting Started with WordPress

After you have a good host and a domain name, you’ll want to install WordPress. You can get the latest version of WordPress here, and you’ll save the zip to your computer. You’ll extract the zip and place the folder on your server with FTP (if you don’t know how to do this, check out the install guide for WordPress here) and you can start installing it. Make sure you read the install guide; it’s not that hard to get it up and running.

Once WordPress is installed, you’re going to want to make your first post! You’ll want to click on the “Posts” tab in the admin panel, and then you can fill out the title box (this is where the title of your post goes) and then you fill out the content box. When you’re done, you hit publish and you’re ready to go! If you ever want to edit or delete a post it’s just as easy as making one, all you have to do is pick the option and go.

Using WordPress to start blogging is the best way to get your website out there. While there are a lot of other CMSs, none do the job that WordPress does. Check it out today and see what it can do for you!
