Why is Duplicate Content Bad, and What is it?

Duplicate content isn’t just reposted news stories; if you’re copying anyone’s content that has been previously indexed, or if they’re just a higher PageRank site than you, you can get slapped with duplicate content penalties from Google. Even if you change something 25-50%, that still won’t be enough to escape the duplicate content filter! It’s amazing how precise it can be, but it’s important to respect the filter and make sure your site’s content and any other content you use connected to your site is unique. Another thing to consider though is that if you “keyword stuff” or “keyword spam” in your articles, or keep using the same keyword again and again to the point where your audience misses the message that you’re trying to convey.

How to Escape the Duplicate Content Filter

Escaping the ire of the filter is pretty simple, use unique content! We’re all tempted to use cheap and dirty tricks to get better ratings, but those never pay off in the long run.
